Description

Designed in 1967 by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli, the Plia folding chair is one of the most iconic examples of 20th-century Italian design. Combining a chrome-plated steel frame with a transparent seat and backrest in acrylic, the Plia epitomizes minimalist elegance and functional innovation.

Its groundbreaking three-disc hinge system allows the chair to fold with exceptional ease, setting a new standard for folding furniture and earning it a place in the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York. With its light and airy silhouette, the Plia is as versatile today as when it was first introduced — perfect for dining, workspaces, or as a stylish occasional chair.

Condition Report

Excellent vintage condition. Minor signs of age and light patina consistent with use, but no structural issues. Chrome and acrylic surfaces well preserved.
