Product Details

A set of three “Samara” modular storage units designed by Derk Jan de Vries in the 1980s. Known for their clean geometry and soft rounded edges, the Samara series reflects the restrained elegance of Dutch Modernist design.

This set consists of two drawer modules (each with three drawers) and one flap-door module, allowing flexible use as a small chest, bedside configuration, office storage, or modular freestanding stack. The units can be arranged vertically or side by side, making them ideal for a living room, bedroom, hallway, or studio.

Crafted in natural wood with subtle grain patterns, each module features the iconic paired circular cut-outs that serve as handles, giving the design its characteristic simplicity and charm.

Condition Report

Very good vintage condition.
The surfaces show light, age-consistent wear, including small marks and subtle color variations, typical for Samara modules of this period. Drawers and flap-door operate smoothly and fit perfectly. The wood veneer is well preserved, with an even tone and natural grain. Structurally solid and fully stable when stacked or used individually.
